decorative and functional kiln-formed glass

I have been pleasantly surprised to have a "Pacific Northwest" following of my southwest influenced work. My first three creations sold before they were even out of the kiln for 24 hours! I generally only have one or two of these works in my studio at any given time.
I spent my college years (and more) in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan. Having grown up in a very small town on the east coast, surrounded by trees, lakes and the same kids since kindergarten, everything was new to me: sunshine every day (damn, it's hot!), desert surroundings
(sand storms, dust and grit everywhere!) and an unusual mix of people (Mexican, Indian, Asian – and who knows what else!). They were eye opening years as I had led a somewhat sheltered life even with spending time with relatives in New York City.
Soon after arriving in Arizona, I found myself mesmerized by the Southwest colors, art and people (you can keep the above 100° weather!). My husband and I began seeking out not the traditional jewelry, pottery and kachinas (spirit dolls), but the contemporary artists using traditional methods in their work,
buying from the artist whenever possible. Our visit
to the Hopi reservations in Northern Arizona cemented our interest in this culture.
Even today, after having lived in the Portland, Oregon area since 1984, our Native American art collection still has a major place in our home and continues to grow as we find pieces that speak to us.
